Default CEL is going on then off since headgaskets

I have recently finished my 60k maintenance along with my headgaskets and valves. I have drove it about 1000 miles since the headgaskets and the CEL has come on 3 times now. The first time was codes 301, 303, 305, and 1300. It stayed on for a few drive cycles and turned off. The second time was codes 304, 306, 308, and 1300. This also went for a few drive cycles and turned off. Now the codes 004, 1172, and 1100 came on today and are still on. Should I be taking it back to the shop? Or could this be the motor misfiring due to carbon being loosened up due to being cleaned? Other than the codes the truck has been feeling great. What do you guys think?

After that many miles, there should be no codes left.. After my gasket change, the only code that I got was idle control valve failure, and that was because I forgot to plug the damn thaing back in.. After just a few miles I had no codes left.. I'd have it checked out..

FYI, I just had my heads and gaskets done last month. When I picked the truck up my mechanic told me not be surprised if I got codes within the first few hundred miles and that if I did to bring it back. He said that the O2 sensors (front) will often need to be replaced. No problems for me so far. Good luck!

The 1172, 02 sensor rich on both banks could be damaged 02 caused by leaking coolant.
I would get it back to the mechanic.
Let us know what you find.

I will have to give them a call to see when I can make it up there. I haven't noticed any coolant loss since driving it. The O2 sensors are on my to do list. I might have to change the priority on them. Does anyone know what the p1100 is? I have been unable to find a definition for the land rover.

P11XX series codes apply to O2 sensors. You don't have a specific code? FWIW, my mechanic told me not to worry about the rear sensors so perhaps you should change out the front pair first and proceed from there. Here is a quick reference for Trouble codes. Others are out there too.

Shows what your mechanic knows, they are nearly as important as the front 02 and should never be dismissed as not necessary or do worry about them.

Perhaps I didn't word my post as well as I could have. What my mechanic told me was that if a problem crops up after the heads are done, it will usually be the front O2 sensors and that we would check them first before we worry about the rears.

Now, The O.P. said he had a O2 sensor problem and did not specify upstream or downstream. I recommended that he check out the front sensors first and I still do. If that's not the problem, like I said, he can proceed from there.
