Step three; unplug the plugs on front side of fuse panel.

Step four; at the top of the fuse panel you will find one 10 mm nut remove that.

Step five; now that the fuse panel is loose lift up on it gently as there is a 1 inch plastic stub
On the bottom that fits into a hole.

Step six; unplug all plugs on back side of fuse panel " some are pretty tight" these plugs can only plug into one place so don't worry about marking them. (Its goof proof)

Okay almost done now go in reverse and install your new fuse panel.

When these fail they can cause some strange electrical issues.
This is a great write-up, thank you. Hopefully I'll have time this weekend to look into it. Thanks again for everyone's help.

Well, the good news is that I was able to get a replacement fuse panel (thanks to Paul) and that was definitely the cause of my central locking and CD player issues. The bad news is that I am having an issue with the security system now and cannot start the car (immob). I have unlocked manually and with the fob, but that is no help. Suggestions?

I did some more digging in the forum and turned the key forward for a few minutes to let it sync and all is fixed. Good as (almost) new!
