Default Changed Alternator, now Blinking M and S..

Had an alternator go out on my 2000. It went into limp mode before I made it home to change it. Swapped it out, Alternator is working fine, but the M and S lights are still flashing and it's still in limp mode. Any ideas?

Your battery is below 10 volts? Are you sure the alternator is charging? Did you hook up the small red wire to the back as well? Just some quick thoughts.

I guess battery was not quite charged enough. Started fine but I hooked it up to the charger for an hour, ran the truck, lights out. Thanks.

Your alternator should charge your battery way faster than any charger. Keep an eye on it. If it's a reman from a chain store it may be bad.

Get ready to replace the battery. If you ran the truck so long that the battery drained that low, your more than likely going to have issues. Same thing happened to me less than 2 months ago.

Battery 3 to 4 years old.
Replace it with Walmart new battery.

New Alternator could be bad.

Make sure wires are attached correctly to alternator.

Make sure the belt is not slipping on the alternator and is routed correctly.

Thanks. I will suggest that. Battery went through the ringer in the last month. It's leaking a bit on top as well.
