Changing Transmission Fluid in D2
Hi All:
I'm looking to change the tran fluids in my 00 D2 myself. I've never done it before so I've been searching the internet for some DIY instructions. What I've gathered so far is that because my truck has over 160k miles on it I might want to change the fluids more often, every 15k or so and that I'll need a fluid pump to pump in new fluids.
Could someone please detail for me how to do a tran fluid change on the 00' D2. The closest pictured DIY I came across that sounded relatively close to what I've been able to piece together here and there is at the link below but it's for a BMW.

Are those instructions the same as for the D2? If not I'd appreciate anyone guilding me through the process and materials I'd need.
Thanks,
Keith

That is how you do it. With a few changes.
First just make sure that you use Dexron ATF. But I think you knew that.
And second, just remove the drain plug and let it all come out that hole. After you remove the drain plug the you could loosen the fill plug to let air in so that it drains better.
But yeah, that is how you do it.

For the mileage on your truck, I would use a Dextron like Vavolines 75,000 miles fluid for high milers and add a bottle of Lucas tranny additive to the system.
Make sure to check it a second time after you first change the fluid, with the tranny running, after shifting back and forth from drive to reverse, putting it in park and check the fluid while the engine is running, always filling till the fluid starts coming back out the fill hole.
