Default Chassis Replacement

A few questions on replacing the rear chassis replacement. Most chassis mostly just need the rear section replaced.
Chassis replacement comes in three options, rear quarter, rear half and full chassis.

1. How much can you expect to spend to replace just the rear quarter section? Its not supposed to be to complicated.

2. If you are doing the rear quarter replacement, does it make sense to do the full rear half and not just the quarter section? (Doing the full chassis I understand costs $8k to install.)

3. Why doesn't the the front rust as bad as the rear?

I will attempt to answer two:

2. Rear quarter does not have suspension attachments, only structural portion is the hitch. Many shops might view that as less riskly and therefore charge less than rear half, plus there is less to unbolt. Also less risk of misalignment causing suspension alignment issues.

3. Engine oil leaks coat the front half of the frame with oil, it appears that the factory oil breather baffle had one side benefit.

The area right directly along/next to passengers side cat will rust out on frame, patched three of our four Dll's.

Yeah, the half section requires a lot more work, as mentioned, since it involves rear suspension area.

In Massachusetts these are the prices I have been quoted:

Full frame swap: new to me frame $1800 (800 for frame $1000 to strip and repaint plus waxoyl the inside. Then $10k -$12k to swap over. Best option if you want to fix other things along the way.

Half frame: About $6k in total including new chassis section.

Quarter frame: didn’t get an exact quote but ball park was $3k.

the question is how much can you do your self, I did a quater replacement, see my post " Busy Few Days ", just the replacment party about £350 as I did it all myself, full chassis replacement in the UK are in the £3000 mark so I think the quotes you got are a bit over the top
