Default Check Engine - Easy Question =)

So in the course of trying to locate the leak on the DII, I removed the entire air filter tube and laid it on top of the manifold just to get it out of the way.

I went to fire up the truck and it stuttered a little but then she started...check engine light suddenly appeared, I'm assuming because of the MAP? sensor...is it going to go back to happy after I put everything together or do I need to clear the codes.

Nope, you will need to get a scanner on it and clear the code.

darn, I hate creating more work for myself.

@JBEGIN

I didn't read the codes as I was just searching for a leak and I needed to get a better view down into the engine compartment. I'm 99.9% sure that the check engine light only came on because I pulled the air filter tube and box off of the throttle body...

Another thing on the laundry list.

what is this on/off on/off stuff?
Did you just turn the car on and then off 3 times in a row and then drive it around the block?

Guess it doesn't matter. I can get my hands on a scanner in the near future and just clear the code, it's changing this water pump that is turning out to be way more fun than I planned on...

On some, very few, faults, a few start cycles will allow the ecu to clear it self. If you are lucky, this can happen if not then you'll need a scanner.

Pick yourself up an inexpensive scanner and keep it in the truck. That's what I do. Seems like eery trail I go on ends with my check engine light on so I just turn it off since I can't afford to fix the problem right now.
