Default Checking this 02 out tomorrow...thoughts?

This is a Black 02 SE at a LR dealership in NH. It has 58K and they are asking 9,900. Heres the catch and I need your opinion. Due to a cylinder valve fail, they had to rebuild the engine. According to the person I spoke to on the phone, it was done by the head mechanic on the premises. Now of course what they said is that it works in my favor since it is like starting over with a new engine. Does it? Or should I be weary? Part of me feels safe since it is at the dealership and they wouldnt knowingly sell a lemon.Right? i know it is overpriced, but any suggestions on what i should shoot for, if at all? Thanks guys

A dealer that would never sell a lemon? Yeah right. They need to pay the rent too.
Go drive it and then keep looking.
www.edmunds.com will give you "real world pricing"

What e4xactly was done, will you get Rovers typical 1 year warranty that is normally offered with any repair made at a dealership?
What would you use this Disco for? If you have plans for lots of 4wheeling, realize the 02's don't have the CDL, locking t/case and so you won't have as much off road traction as the earlier D2's or the 04.
The price is a little high for a 02, see if they will include a complete 60K service, since it is due.

drove the truck today...drove really well. Best yet out of any which I have driven. The master tech rebuilt the engine due to a failed "slip" ?. I guess there was a slight tap and they couldnt figure out what it was so they rebuilt the whole thing. Sounds great and drives great. They however would not budge on the price, said they had already reduced it. And it comes AS IS no warranty whatsoever meaning the only real advantage to buying at the dealership in this case would be the knowledge or peace of mind that comes from knowing it has been given a once over from an actual LR dealership. They obviously offer varying warranties but at 9,900 were getting out of my range. Its too bad though since it did drive so well. I wish i wasnt on a time constraint and had time to wait for the perfect truck/price. I also drove a 00 SD7 today as well. 64k miles . Seems to be in great shape considering , seemd to drive a little heavy/loud but he said its due to the tires and he would suggest changing to softer ones if not planning on offroading. Also, Im not a real fan of the SD 'leathrette' package, seems a lil cheap? Ill keep looking. If anone sees anything(02-04) in the MA / New England area shoot a link my way as I am checking regularly. Thanks.
