Cool Checklist

I am a new member and a WannaRover, for several years i have been drooling at the Disco II's. I have recently found an 01 SE with 128K for 3900. It does have the three amigo issue, AND brake light. Is this 3 amigo fix a serious issue? Are these systems performance effected while these lights are on? Does someone have a checklist for me to view when i go to look at this truck? I own several SAABs including 2 classic 900 Turbos, and am accustomed to maintaining a "qwerky" vehicle, just don't want to bite off more than i can chew. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Under the sticky section there is a great read on what to look for and common issues that rovers have. I would start there. Good luck!

if you own a scanner tell him you want to check the codes... I wish I did at the time.. I would have still bought the truck BUT.. i would have gotten it for a little cheaper.. mi got lucky with my Amigos.. it surrounded a minor voltage issue.. from what I learned hanging around the board here.. it can be serious and somewhat pricey.. other then that I have the same model truck for about 5 months and love the dam thing.. good luck

if its just a bad shuttle valve the job is rather cheap and easy... think thats probably the most common cause. you could also modify it to fix which would just take adding in some extra wires etc, maybe an hours additional work if you have all the parts so it doesnt happen again. (if thats whats causing the trimigos)

go to Disco II then "write up" and "how tos".. as far as the scanner goes.. if I would have had it durining purchase.. i would have seen there were pending codes.. then eventually seen that it needed a Crank postion sensor, Maf, Knock sensor, beside the power steering debocle.. woulda gave me some leverage to hagle those repairs off
