Default Summer Driving Maintenance Checklist

I am going to be doing some big trips this summer in the Disco and I think the amount of time I spend reading about break downs has me a little paranoid.

Other than the obvious (T stat, Oil, Coolant Flush) what are some other ideas for staying off the side of the road?

I have an 03 with 76K, right around the time where a lot of folks blow gaskets...

I pick to make sure your a/c condenser fan is working. Mine was rusted solid and probably had been for a while. The only reason I noticed it is because I happened to see the fuse was blown. I just got an aftermarket motor from advance auto for $70 and it works great.

Just do all of the standard (standard for a Land Rover at least) preventative maintenance so you know you've got fluids everywhere fluids are supposed to be. D

.....Map out off of the indie Rover shops along your route, then get a AAA membership or some sort of roadside assistance.

x2....AAA card stays in the glovebox. You never know when you may need that free towing.

Replace your crank sensor and carry a spare brake light light switch in the glove box.
As long as you keep your truck maintained you are good to go, nothing special is needed for the summer or for the winter.

So, when did it have it's last major service, do every 30,000 miles or 3 years?
Have you already had the front drive shaft rebuilt/replaced to prevent it from failing and taking out your tranny?
