Cigarette Lighter Mod D1/D2:
I'm glad this post was resurrected.
I was thinking of changing out the stock loose cig lighter with a smaller inner diameter cig lighter. That cig lighter at NAPA that someone mentioned will help as a replacement.
I don't smoke but I mainly use it charging phones/iPads and for plugging in my Power Probe III for troubleshooting electrical issues in the dash.

Yes, I wish that I would have seen this topic earlier. Just bought a cigarette lighter type adapter that fits very loosely and huts off after being bumped or wiggled.
Will look into changing. Like the cleaner look and I have the Greg Davis type CDL ****...so that kind of gets in the way too.
Brian.

Here is a thought...
I prefer to keep Tricky Dick looking as stock as possible. However, I hid my iPhone adapter in the center console cubby.
Could you simply splice into the cigar lighter and run the wires back to the cubby and mount a charging port there?

My original USB conversion ports are still going strong. No issues at all and I get compliments on it all the time from LR folks.
I have not missed the OEM cigarette lighter port one bit. I like those newer USB/Voltage Ports.

thank you sir.
unfortunately replacing 15 and 26 did not fix the output. i was not accurate in my first post, i measured 0.3/0.4 volts in the outlet so i could conclude that it is not a fuse issue... is the outlet controlled by something else as well?

Brian.
The modification I did to my stock cigarette lighter is rewired to permanent power. Not controlled by the keyswitch.
Used a spare fuse holder inside the fuse box and ran a new wire to it. Now things plugged-in can recharge while parked.
