Question Climate control in OFF...

Hi.
Understand the owner manual description and operation for the 'auto' ; 'economy', 'fan' and 'heating' modes, and they behave fine in my vehicle; but would like to know what happens when OFF.

Do the baffles/air control gates stay in the last selection before turning off or go to a default setup ? (Not shown on the manual)

If I want nothing from the climate control system, no air flow at all, no heating, no cooling, no ventilation, is there a way controls have to be set before hitting the off button ?

How to select just ram air ventilation from outside ?,
or, a small amount of ram air trough the heating core for a little heat ?

Yes the flappers stay where they were when you switch it off. Your best bet if you want no air is to put the defroster on and hit recirculate before switching off. This still wont be perfect and it will still pull some air in but imo its the best option.

Economy mode is just outside air with the fan, if you dont want the fan but want air in your face put it to "dash" before turning it off.

Thanks.
Yes, that is the way I have it now, but cannot control the too hot temperature as flow trough the heater core is fixed fully open.

If the only solution is to put it in 'auto' and select temperature for a mild heat, the airconditioner compressor would be on to fight against the excess heat from the core, that 'stupid inefficient wasteful technology' pisses me big time.

With so many bells, whistles, computers and buttons on board, come on ! Am I wrong and there is another way for mild heat ?

Dude, its not that complicated, turn it on "ECON", set the temp you want and forget it.
If you turn the unit off with the temp set as low as it goes then the door to the heater will be closed and the air you get will be heated from the engine as the cabin air intake is right below the windshield.
If set to "AUTO" the a/c will cycle on/off as needed to control the interior temp, if you dont want that then just set it to economy mode and forget about it.
The a/c will only kick on if the inside temp is higher than what you have it set at and it wont kick on if the outside temp is below I think it's 50*F unless you have the defroster on.
Or you could just sell it and buy a DI, they are so much easier.
