Default Clutch Issues

Hi Guys,

First post so be gentle!

So I have a strange issue with the Clutch in my 2003 TD5 D2... There are days when its perfect and since changing the oil in the box, I have a silky smooth change. On those good days, the biting point position is in the same place where its always been. However, there are days where the biting point is right down the bottom (as in right off the floor) and its really difficult to near impossible to change gear.

This has only just happened over the last few weeks as its been perfect since I bought it 9 months ago...

Again, when its perfect, there is no issue no clutch slip or any issues with it really and it had a new clutch just over two years ago now and no real abuse...

Im thinking its my clutch master cylinder? Can these have intermittent issues?

Thanks for any help in advance...

It does sound as if your clutch disengagement system is leaking down while it sits.

the lines, especially at connections, need to be checked as well.

If it's an external slave pull the boot back to see if fluid is in it. Same with the master.

I've always been in the habit of replacing master/slave in pairs.

If the entire system is old a new hard line and upgade the flex line to stainless braided would be a good idea while you're in there.
