I have a 99 DI with 95k miles. New plugs, wires, tranny fluid, oil change and diff and transfer case fluids. Has been and is running flawlessly. I believe that the fuel pump is on its way out. One of my boys started it up without letting the fuel flow for a second or two and then it seemed flooded. He waited for a few seconds, 10 or so, and then it fired right up. It did blow some black smoke and then ran great. During the start, it must have thrown a code, 1179. The scanner indicated it was a dealer-only type code. I did a search and couldn't really find anything definite. I cleared the code and it seems to be running fine, I am wondering it wasn't just a bit of fuel from the misstart that confused one of the O2 sensors.....Any ideas? By the way, are O2 sensors really running $100 plus each? ouch. Thanks for the input. Phil

Don't depend on Rover Chick for your answer on this.
That is one of the harder codes to find/fix and reset. Get a good mechanic who knows what he is doing cause you won't find it by yourself.
