On another note, it would be a very good idea to start checking your oil level more frequently than when it is due to be changed.

Which is good advice for any owner, not just the OP...

First thing in the morning, cold and on the level.

I have to top mine up a few times between oil changes. Which has been the case for me for the last 130k miles. And no, I don't ever see it dripping or leaking. So not seeing oil on the driveway is not an excuse to not check the level regularly between intervals.

Low levels do produce low oil pressure which will prematurely wear your engine bearings and camshaft. The light comes on at 7lbs. If you wait until then to add oil you've already done damage.
