Codes 1170 and 1173 after cat delete
#11
I actually got 7.5mpg before getting rid of the cats (clogged severly). I know they don't do well on gas, and the cat delete doesn't turn it into a Flowmaster jacked up Chevy with 5'' dual exhuast tips. Once warmed up, it actually sounds good, and nobody would know unless you told them. Anyhow, I say the PCV because of the one time stumble issue, and I know the PO would have never checked such a thing.

Right i understand its hard to put true dual exhaust under a rover. Proper maintenance will make a rover get the best mileage possible and i encourage you to clean the pvc just want you to understand the fact that they are thirty motors , there are lots if things that could cause a "stumble" . But the way its set up is the best possible way for the motor to run and perform. adding new cats and a Magna flow muffler and deletion of the secondary muffler sounds great too. The cats will cause you a problem if you have emissions in your area.
Have you done mikes major service?

I wasn't looking for sound, just looking to get rid of restrictive cats. The pre cat sensors are the ones adjusting fuel (if I'm correct), so that should have nothing to do with mpg, if not making it better. I have no emissions where I live. I'm gradually working on every little maintenance thing. I've basically just changed oil and trans fluid w/o filter. Gonna do the T-case and diffs next. I also ordered a new fully greasable front drive shaft. Also have oil and temp gauges to install. Will get around to them all whenever I get a break (in medical school). Til then just going to enjoy it and do minor things like PCV until the winter break.

Yea, it's come back twice and I even doubled up the spark plug non foulers, so the rears are are way out of the exhaust mix. I noticed my intake tube to throttle body has no clamp, and I can pull it off pretty easily. That would be my first guess, but I didn't get these codes until I deleted the cats and seafoamed it, so I don't know.
I'm not sure those codes are related to a vac. leak but if you want to check for one you can try smoke testing it at home with a cigar.

Ha, try 'affording' 250k in student loans compounding interest over 7+ years. I know society likes to paint most doctors as money grubbing jackholes, but it's for the vast majority not so. Many other professions are much worse, but for some reason socially acceptable to be so. Off the soapbox, maintenance doesn't bother me, so not a problem.

I would cancel that order. I will build you a American made drive shaft built out of American universal joints that are built to last by a land rover owner. I know that product i am really familiar with it and would cancel the order now.
