RE: Codes 1175 and 1172 ?!?!
ok so when I pick up the replacement air filter house (top) should I get a new MAF as well to play it safe and then keep it in the box until I have problems. I'm heading up to tahoe (600 miles round trip) next week so I don't want to get stuck some where. Or if the MAF goes bad some time on the trip do I need to worry about it? I.e. will the car still run or will i have problems ...

I'm willing to bet that your maf won't suddenly quit on youin the next 600milesbut it's up to you. Your mileage may go down though and hopefully you don't get misfires, but it should run ok I think...The typical codes for a maf are P-0171/0174/0734/0733/0102/0103. If you had any of these I'd say get a new one, but i'm just not sure here. With a big trip coming up and if you plan on keeping the truck for a long time I would just get one, you'll probably end up needing it eventually. Make sure you get a Boschif you do.

ok, i'll get a new one just in case. I didn't get any of the codes above. just 1172, and 1175. I'm going to drive the car around today and see if any lights come back on. I too was worried about mis fires. What would be a clear indication of a mis fire when driving. Shotty start ups and unable to keep hwy speeds?

RE: Codes 1175 and 1172 ?!?!
The only reason I knew that I was getting misfires from a bad maf was because of the engine codes. Other than that the truck ran fine. I didn't drive like that for too long though so who knows, it might have gotten worse. BTW, I would check the codes one more time for the hell of it. You may have some codes stored in there, just not enough to set off the light yet. If you have no more codes after about 50 miles of driving, I'd say you're good to go for a while, some people dohave goodluck with cleaning the maf.
