pull the upper intake, its like 8 bolts and a couple hoses and electrical plugs. three hours is about what it will take you, I did it a few weeks ago outside in the lovely NE weather. Just dress warm; I did coils ,wires plug & intake in just under 3 hours. Put your new wires on the new coils and drop them in as one unit, there are only two plugs and two bolts that's it.

Default Replacement Coil Pack suggestions

Hello,

I wanted to ask if anyone has some suggestions on coil pack brands. I can buy the "Bosch" pack at Atlantic Britsh for nearly $300.00, but I found some others for half that price or less. One is made by Standard, the other is made by Beck Arnley. Both of these can be purchased for under $100.00, including shipping.

Anyone have some pros and cons to offer?

The Standard has a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty, whereas both the others are under 1 year. That's something that makes me scratch my head a bit.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank in advance.

Might want to start a new thread since this one is older... Post the problems you're having too that make you believe coils are bad, because someone will ask why you're replacing them.

Thank you for the suggestion! I debated doing so originally, but rather than crowd the list with redundant posts, thought I might try here first.

Replaced coilpack plugs wires plenum gasket pretty strait forward right?

Oh sorry guys I'm new to rovers I have a 2000 d2 and a 2001 d2. I have been mostly a bmw, porsche,vw guy but I have always liked rovers so here we go on another car adventure.

If anyone cares I have many hours/years with wrenches and cars so nothing really scares me except body work. but those might be other questions.

for now its engine. As I stated at the top coils, plugs, wire, gasket, all done pretty simple.

Well its all back together and won't start. It did have a few pops and sputters when I first cranked it then nothing I rechecked the work over and over swapped the old coil back in nothing.

What am I missing? any help would be great. I'm new here and think I could be of help to others but just need to get a bit more familiar with these monsters first. plus i don't have 10 posts yet so if this info is lurking around the forum I don't have full access.

any help would be much appreciated as i started this work right before i got my plates so I haven't even been able to take the family for cruise in it.

Hi Uniden290
Read you post from a while back on coil pack removal. I have the wires
off mine now, and wires and bracket are disconnected so it's loose. Which way did you get to the passenger-side coil pack's third bolt? From top or side? Thank you! Robrover1

Why not just replace the entire bracket housing the 2 coil packs? Less work with more gain.
