Default Compatibility question ... cupholder/no cupholder Disco II w RRC / Disco 1

The original slide in-out cupholder on my 00 is broken, and I’d like to replace w the one without a sliding cupholder. (A grey blanking panel replaces the fiddly cupholder). Mine creaks and rattles over bumps so I’d like to de-cupholder it.

Will this work for me?

(basically the question is... are these things the same for 95 RRC, Disco I, Disco II and I can just put my ashtray and coin tray in this)

It doesn't look remotely like a piece that would fit. The D2 tray goes the full width of the panel; that one has the blanking piece only in the centre.

why not just goop up the internals to the cup holder with some glue, close it, and be done with it forever?

You can grab just the small center piece from an 03/04 D2 for next to nothing. Last one I bought for a customers D1 was like 3.50 at a salvage yard. Online they're like 10.00 tops. You just need the 03/04 center plate not the entire assembly.

not that i would rig my rig, but that seems like an ok solution, the appearance would be the same, how many of us have zip tied the springs on the change drawer to make it function properly? It would solve your issue and you would still be able to pull the trim kit if necessary.

I would only use glue if I knew I would never sell the truck. Otherwise you are handing a difficult messy situation to a future owner who may want cup holders.

those cup holders are fairly useless. The console mounted ones are much more functional and aren't very expensive from a breaker if your rig doesn't have them already.
