Default Coolant in glovebox

Has anyone had coolant leak into the glovebox? I hear a water trickle sound and find coolant in my glovebox. Disco2 131000

I tend to keep sunglasses and maps there but hey ho.

Seriously, if it's defo coolant it sounds like the heater pipe or matrix leaking.

I agree, the ONLY COOLANT flowing through/around that area is from the Heater Pipes or Heater Core.

FIRST you need to remove the Glove Box (very simple) and inspect the Heater Pipes/Core(#16) especially at the O ring locations(#15). If the coolant is leaking with the Glove Box removed you will see it.

If you find that you need to replace the Heater Core or the Pipes do BOTH at the same time. This is not a fun job to do once let alone twice. Pipe kit > Heater Core Pipe Kit (Genuine Part # STC3917 ) - Land Rover cooling/heating from Atlantic British

WARNING this video will make you DIZZY, but it gives you some of the basics re: the Heater Core Removal.

A loose or failing hose to heater matrix pipe connection at the firewall could cause this. I've seen cases where coolant shoots past the black rubber grommet at the firewall into the passenger cabin. Seems plausible some coolant could land in the glovebox.

Toss the OEM squeeze clamps and put on a good set of Norma (German) hose clamps for those matrix pipes.

just a side note, you can bypass the heater matrix if needed till you get it fixed, this is how I did it for about $10 from local auto part store

^^haha nice

To be clear, I anticipated needing to clamp the hoses when I replaced my heater matrix to reduce the amount of coolant dumping on the floor. That is why I have so much hose and the bit in the middle.

Default Thanks guys

Thanks guys . This is great info . Especially with the picture . I just didn’t want to tear into anything without the homework. It has to be the heater lines. I will provide an update once complete.

You'll get it sorted real quick once the glove box is removed. It's simple, and this is all it takes to get it out.

Just to be safe I recommend 1, OK 2 shots of Tequila before you start.
And just because you really DON'T NEED A VIDEO....Here's a Video
