while your at NAPA you should rent or borrow their pressure tester, because it would really, really, suck to replace the water pump only to find the leak is in the timing case cover and have to take it all apart again. you will also want to replace your thermostat now; no need in bleeding the cooling system twice. Yes this is also the time to change your serpentine belt.

people have found the water pump pliers (channel locks) or an adjustable wrench will fit sometimes.

Napa will not have the fan shroud, either a wrecking yard or the dealer only.
Make sure that you flush your coolant replacing it with 2 gallons of fresh coolant, a new t/stat and coolant pressure cap based on your mileage.
As for the fan, inspect it closely, if there are any chips or cracks, it must be replace because it will fail.

no ACE here. and coils from the factory. I did my research before I bought.
Good call, DiscoMike, on the fan inspection, but all is well. I don't need the fan shroud, though, I need the shroud that covers those two pulleys. I am not sure what those pulleys are, so I don't have an idea of what that shroud is called either. On the first page of this post, it is the picture with a red rectangle around the shroud. Anyone know what this shroud is called, and whether or not I can run a day or so without it until I can find a junked one in a tow yard?
Drowssap: when I pressure treat the system, if I have multiple fails, how will I know? I know for certain that the water pump is bad, because the viscous fan is off kilter. If that is a failure, will I still be able to see another failure too? I am assuming that this is a pump system that I hook up and listen/watch for air escaping, right?

when you fill the system with air from the pressure tester it will push the coolant out of the leak.

pix would not open for me. pehaps load it again as a smaller size? Would be a boneyard treasure or contact a dismantler like Paul Grant. Or half a pay check at the dealer.

I would think it would be called a belt guard, but in LR talk that could guess about anything.
