Dusty, as you know I've been trying to come up with a bullet-proof metal solution for the plastic in the cooling system. The upper T was easy, but unfortunately I haven't found an easy solution for that y-pipe yet.

well there are options out there. I cant use a standard set, due to my set up....in line water pump, 2 sender sections (fore and aft), in line stat, in line thermostatic switch section....... the uk flea kits and places like DIRENZA LAND ROVER DISCOVERY 2 II 4.0 V8 98+ SILICONE ENGINE RADIATOR RAD HOSES HOSE KIT are a solution, other wise

I'm not trying to hijack your thread dusty, but is that little plastic "Y" an issue if replaced with the same thing? I'm not into making parts for this thing, just asking a question really.. I'm guessing the originals where made of metal?

the original in my 00 and my last 2 d2s were just like the above section, except standard rubber not silicone. later this supplied section was changed to the plastic y inclusion. I hate those plastic pieces......they brittle and break.....a while back, I had to totally remove all hoses and the radiator just to find a chunk of the plastic t was stuck in my radiator. I no longer find them acceptable. but you can always replace them before they become an issue. prolly every couple to few years or so

My upper t busted a couple of years ago. Replaced a radiator before I found the problem.
No more plastic for me.
