Coolant Leak

RE: Coolant Leak
The t-body heater has nothing to do with cold starts. There is no heat to it until the engine is warm.It is to prevent icing when the enigine is warm and you are in very cold temps sucking in moister laiden air.
You know when the front side of your mirriorsice over when you are driving on the highway but it isint snowing? Your t-body does the same thing. Carb's used a hose that came off of the exhaust manifold and went to the air cleaner. Remember that little foil tube that always got lost or broken everytime you worked on the car? Thats what that was for. To keep the carb from icing up.
For most of usthe t-body heaterisint nessasary. But for those who live in cold wet area's it is.
You can do what you want, it is your trk. If you want to set it on fire go for it. If you want to by-pass the t-body heater, go for it. My point is that it is there for a reason. Thats all.
He asked what it was called and what it was for.

I have 0 degree starts, here in Colorado nad mine has been by-passed for the last 3 plus years with no side effects.

In piston-engined aircraft with carburetors, venturi icing after startup and when flying in clouds can be a serious issue. All such aircraft engines have a carb heat **** that redirects air from a jacket around the muffler to the intake air stream to bring it above freezing and prevent ice buildup. Same idea. I've experienced carb icing 4 times in the last 4 years (Cessna 182s are notorious for it). Definitely gets your attention if it happens over, say, Rollinsville

Maybe so but you could skate on my street last week after the ice storm.
Iwill admit that I do miss a snowy day now and then. And, up north, you get the evergreens to add some color to the landscape. White and Greenare much more pleasant than our grey and brown.
Phil, about those shorts, give us a warning if you post pics.....I'll want to put my shades on before viewing.

You always feel that need to return home. At least I do. And great pics! I like how theshafts of light are breaking through the clouds with thebirds adding movement.
So, you ever think of takingyour Disco on the shortroute to Wisconsin?Skip all that pesky Chicago traffic...maybe< two hours with smooth ice....
