Coolant Leak Anyone?
I've got a small leak somewhere. The leak only show itself overnight on the driveway( about the size of an egg, usually just one spot ). There's 128k on the old girl and she still runs smooth. I just can't find the darn source of the leak, I add about 1 qt a month of coolant into the reservoir. When I crawl underneath I notice a drip run on the oil filter which drips onto the cross beam and then onto the driveway. Any ideas? Anyone?! Thanks - RR.
I had a similar sort of leak in my D1. Turned out to be coming from the front cover (the unit that the water pump attaches to). It was coming from where the front cover bolts to the front of the block (top right hand corner). Mine also only showed itself after a few hours of being switched off - I think it was a low pressure leak once the truck had cooled off - a pressure test of the coolant system revealed no problems. All I did was check the tightness of the front cover bolts, most turned an eighth of a turn and all has been fine for over a year now, no leak at all!
Cheers

There is a ultra violet dye that you can add to your cooling system.
Add the dye, clean the engine bay and then drive it for a week.
Take a ultra violet light out to the dark garage and look for the leak, it will glow like enriched plutonium on the black market.
