I know I've never seen that before. My guess would be some serious flush was put in there, and left in there. I would like to hear some of the other ideas, or if anyone knows for sure. My only other guess would be that a cheap or damaged gasket was used. I just took one apart that hardly had an actual gasket in it.

How mechanical are you? and how many hours do you think you'll have in the job?
Long, long ago in a far away galaxy.........I was an aircraft mechanic.....

I realistically have 10-12 actual hours in it so far. The problem is I am only doing an hour or two at a time. I have not tore this far into an engine in over 20 years so I am taking it slow and driving my D1.....

Drivers side head gasket.......better condition then passengers side.

Just something that someone let get on it, and it caused a problem, like coolant flush, etc.
