I am considering replacing my thermostat and flushing the cooling system and refilling with G05, does anyone think using G05 will be a bad idea? I am not a big fan of Dexcool. 2003 D2 with 68k, no cooling issues, just want to do preventative maintenance.

A word to the wise, don't mess with what works based on your concerns. Yes Dexcool and be a problem if you don't change it every 2 years, but it is what works and is the only one recommended.

Dexcool is only bad if you have a leak. It is fine in a closed, sealed system. It is corrosive as heck when heated and put to atmosphere, but like Mike said, keep with what works.

If you want to do anything, add a bottle of Purple Ice or Water wetter when you change your fluid. Helps keep the truck cooler and keeps everything lubed inside.

As long as it is aluminum safe you are fine, I prefer Peak Global Lifetime coolant.
I used to sell bulk coolant and DexCool is gunk, but it is enviromentaly "safe"
Do a complete flush with distilled water and then switch to whatever you want as long as it is aluminum safe.
