Default Just purchased a 2002 Discovery II SE7

Hey all. First off let me say this seems to be a great site. Lots of information.

I just purchased a 02 Discovery II SE7 from a friend of the family who sells used cars. Gave me a very good deal on the Rover. $3500.00 to be exact. It has 98k miles. I drove it, it handled great no problems, good pick up etc. I glanced under the hood and didn't notice any leaks. Oil looked full, but dirty (its getting changed before I take delivery) But reading some of the posts, I'm kinda inferring that at 98k I'm probably safe on the head gasket that its probably been done by now. I'm sure the 60k service has been done as well too. The front driveshaft has me worried, whats everyone's thought on that? Three Amigos, is there a mileage to watch out for? When I drove the car there were no lights on, I drove about 5 mins parked tested things like lights, wipers, sunroofs, radio, windows etc. The rear wiper doesn't work, possibly the motor, I see those cheap on eBay.

I currently have a 98 Durango that this vehicle is replacing. I drive approx 150 miles just TO work once a week. Then around town while off. I've been told to expect many years of worry free service from this vehicle.

What can you experts tell me?

Crawl under the truck once you get it home and look for grease fittings on the front driveshaft.
The grease fittings look like this...

The "3 amigos" are when your Traction Control, Hill Decent Control and ABS lights all come on at the same time.
These can come on for various reasons, everything from a break squel to a bad hub to a bad SLABS unit.
And just a FYI, only the dealer can read/clear these codes, but the good news is that is the only reason that you will ever need the dealer for.

And yes, get the front driveshaft rebuilt with greasable u-joints ASAP if it does not have them, if it does, or after it gets them grease them at every oil change and they will last half of forever.
