Default Coolant passages in block.

New to the forums but owned my D II for quite some time, has the 4.6L in it. Anyways I just recently did headgaskets on the vehicle and found 2 stripped bolts (left side right in the middle) those now have timeserts. My question is I'm getting coolant in a few of those bolt holes, when I blow air into the bottom head bolt holes (driver side) it pushes coolant out threw the coolant passages on the edges. Is this normal or do I have a hole in the block somewhere?

Happy Friday

you probably have a crack inside at least one the bolt hole, between the the block and the sleeve. the block is trash without spending a lot of money getting it repaired.

Failure to properly replace head gaskets is the number one killer of these blocks, IMO.
people that jerk on bolts, over torque and hydrolock has killed more blocks that poor machining has.

So if I understand you right, when I put pressure on any head bolt hole in the block. I shouldn't be seeing any pressure coming out of the coolant passages on the edge of the block. All head bolt holes should be sealed.

When you replaced the stripped block threads how deep did you drill and tap for the thread repair kit to wind in? hopefully not too deep into the water galleries if that is possible.

I only drilled down 70mm for the timeserts, had all the bits marked and gave myself 30mm of room to ensure that didn't happen. There's one separate head bolt hole which I didn't put a timesert in, and it's blowing air into the coolant passage. So off to find a new block! Yay ><.
Just glad I caught this. Thank you guys for your help, you rock!
