Default Could this be transfer case out bearing?

Could this be transfer case output bearing:

quickly developing a “whine” under acceleration. And by whine - to me it sounds like a turkey gobble - or a clear worn bearing- such as a idol pulley. (* I’ve just replaced both idol pulleys)

I can hear it audibly & now getting alarmingly louder when applying gas pedal during travel- right up until the moment before a rolling stop. The sound compliments change in load, while intermittently goes away. all sudden getting loud, then drive for several miles smooth, then again it stirs/ seems to wind up.

I can feel a slight “scratching” or slight vibration congruent with this noise while holding the (automatic) shifter.

(I very often drive in 3rd in the hill towns of my location. I’m very easy on truck, very conscious of high miles and strain. I only say this to help clarify In the event it could be transmission related- however everything I read and feel doesn’t point to tranny)

No other symptoms of engine struggle at all.
Again- this has only seemingly come on within the last week or two- I’m only driving occasional weekend trips; perhaps 50 miles since it’s sound taking on. No abnormal temps- runs clean and smooth. No indication of wheel bearings, no fan clutch movement or water pump weeping. No abnormality in voltage to make me think it’s alternator bearing-
its seemingly coming from right below center consol-
but because it won’t sound when stopped- it’s hard to ID at this point.

I bought a Disco once with a bad transfer case, center support shaft retaining nut had come loose and the shaft backed out - center transfer gear had walked in to neighboring gear and eaten itself. When I bought it the thing would basically not move, I had to believe it gave the owner some kind of warning sign before it reached that point.

Solved:

centering bearing in front driveshaft dbl cardon, closest to transfer case.

Driveshaft is 1 year old Tom woods. grease all u joints every oil change. Maybe 3/3500 miles this year. I’d consider light use.

The centering ball has a greaseable fitting as well.

A modest lift, no steel bumpers but outfitted with a bit of extra weight.
As pointed out- if I had better kept up with the greasing of centerball- it most likely could have been avoided..
