Default Rod to Crank bearings life expectancy

Some guy on here a few days ago talked about his lower rod to crank bearings going t's-up after 110k miles. Got me thinking about swapping those out. Just for yucks. Never done it before on these.

Is this a Saturday job? Looks fairly simple. Any recommended manufacturer for bearings?

I have had several, never needed to do that. Currently have two trucks with over 220k on them, both on original bearings. I think it makes more difference what kind of oil changes and oil is run. But yeah, half an hour to get the pan off, then you can probably do one bearing every 20 mins.

The first time I did the crank and rod bearings on my 04' I did them from the oil pan removal method. It is an easy day job and at 127XXX miles my rod/crank bearing were showing some wear (A little copper on the lower bearings were showing) but my main issue was my cam bearings. At 142K I did a full rebuild and the crank/rod bearings looked like they did when I put them in approximately 20k earlier.

Ok for what it's worth. I dropped off my 03 at my mechanic 2 days ago and asked him to inspect the situation. That motor is at about 140k. He just called and said that the bearings need changed and said about 5 hours work to do it including oil change at 30 bucks an hour. He originally told me I was nuts to worry about this. I scheduled him to do all my daughters rigs at the next service date. For 30 bucks an hour, I'm not gonna bother getting my hands dirty.

Great labor rate! Make sure to get the old bearings and take photos, we want to see them. Have him take photos of the cam so you can see that no cam bearings are walking.
