Default Cranks but wot start until a few tries.

I have only had the discovery a few hours and I bought it from a buddy. He told me about the issues and said it needs a new starter. I'm not so sure about that, It seems like it has full power on every crank but won't start on the 1st or 2nd try. It runs fine after starting so could it be a priming issues?

There's a Schrader valve located at the fuel rail check the pressure. Could be leaking down. Also you could let the fuel pump work for a couple of seconds before you try to crank it and see if that will help....other way I would be looking for a fuel issue

What happens exactly when it doesn't start? As in, the engine spins but doesn't start, or it doesn't spin over at all?

It cranks and the starter doesn't sounds slow. I have a feeling that it is fuel related. Once I got it running I turned it off and was able to restart it on the first try. After it sat for awhile it took a few try's to get it started again.

sounds like a fuel drain down issue. let it sit and see if there is fuel pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel rail at the motor. The fuel pump only runs for a short while and then shuts down if the motor doesn't start. There is a pressure regulator to prevent too much pressure at the fuel rail. If that is leaking fuel back into the tank, it could cause what you are describing.

Or maybe a fuel injector or two that are leaking fuel into the motor when they are shut off for a length of time.
