Default Crankshaft

HI all,
Had oil pump go and wiped out the bearings and a few rods. No. 1 bearing was completely disintegrated and in oil pan and plugged up pick up tube. Really gouged the crank bad. I don't it can be salvaged. Plus I really messed the bearing cap that has the stud on it. It took a lot of pounding to get it out. My question is there a difference between 4.0 and 4.6 crankshaftS? I have a 2003 4.6. I know I'd be better off just buying a new block from atlantic but I just don't have that kind of money.

Yes there is a difference between the 4.0 and 4.6 crankshafts. It has a longer stroke for the rods.

isn't there a way to build a 4.6 using a 4.0 block?

Yes. Complete 4.6 rotating assembly will swap over. Crank, rods, Pistons. 4.6 cam is an upgrade too, but keep lifters on their correct cam lobes.

Does anyone have a good place to purchase the crankshaft for the 4.6? Pulling the engine due to an exploded oil pump leading to destroyed bearings and a severely grooved crankshaft, and I was wondering if anyone had a good source. Thank you!
