Narrow tires are always better unless you're dealing with sand or bottomless snow/mud.

Not exactly for the winter, I was thinking of something more long term. See pictures and you will understand why I need to go back up there and why I want to bring my Disco with me! I went up there last year to work as a seafood processor and I fell in love with the state. Have not felt the same since I left AK to return home.

By the way it was not as cold as you might think, in fact we experienced a couple heat waves while I was up there!
Tires look sweet. I wish I didn't have 16x8's so I could run the same width. Fat tires are a remnant from the days when everybody wanted to look like they were about to race Baja. They wander on the road, weigh more and don't work as well in most situations as a narrower tire. I'd like to get some 16x7 steelies from P38 spares, paint them the same color as the body or maybe that nice light tan and set my truck up like an old 110.
One word of caution on those tires, though. I don't see any siping. They might be quite the handful on ice and wet roads. Might want to look into getting some cut into the tread. Do a search on google and you will be surprised at what a difference those little slices can make.
