Crazy new temps. Need help

Wow, I guess I like me a stuck thermostat then because when I changed to a 180 the top temp I got lowered from 215 to 199. I bled it the same but I guess I must be mechanically challenged in some way. i've apparently done the same stupid thing over and over again with the same results. I must be some crazy exception to the rule.

If you have a 180 thermostat...it should run a few degrees within that range (3 or 4 degrees), not 19 degrees higher. If you have a 195...it should run within a few degrees of that, not several degrees hotter. If it is running higher...most likely you have another issue with your cooling system. Bad clutch fan, partially plugged radiator (internally, coolant flow or externally, air flow), weak belt tensioner, worn belt, defective thermostat, restriction in cooling system, bad water pump and in some rare cases..a bad trans (and the trans cooler is super heating the cooling system with its higher than normal temps).
Brian.

Update
started the Disco today and lifted the hood. Visible flow into the coolant bottle had returned to normal. Temperature behavior also back to normal and never got over 197 when coming to a stop. ImI thinking some type of crud came out of the heater core and was lodged some place. I'll give it a flush.
