Default Crazy Radio

I just had the drive shaft replaced on 02' Disco. When problem occured I could not get the radio to turn off after turning car off. I have replaced fuses and still no luck. I was in need of new battery so I replaced it. I should not need a code to turn the radio off? Any advice will sure help.

Will it shut off on its own?

That's a new one for the Disco list of weird issues.

really don't understand the question, how do you turn the radio off? If you take power away from the radio it should turn off (pulling the fuse or disconnecting the battery will definitely turn the radio off, and probably require the code to turn it back on)otherwise the radio should turn off when you turn the truck off, unless you have RAP and I have never heard of that in a rover, RAP or retained accessory power means the radio (and some other accessories like power windows) will stay on after the ignition is turned off until either about 10 minutes passes or the drivers door is open(whichever is sooner). can you manually turn the radio off? there are 2 wires in the back of the radio one wire always has power so the radio can store memory (radio presets) if this wire loses power it should require a code to turn it back on. then there is a "switched power" that should go through your ignition switch. only thing that comes to mind is that there is a problem with the ignition switch (the accessory wire going to the radio is still powered when the truck is off) or the wiring behind the radio is screwed up (maybe a previous owner had an aftermarket radio in it and the two power wires shorted together?) some installers wrap all wires together so this could be something to check

The answer is not as complicated as one would think. Take a two year old toddler a hand full of coins and you've got a radio that will shoot craps. Found the answer to my own question today as I was troubleshooting with a cassette tape. Thanks for the replies.
