Default Crouse control

I have 96 Discovery it runs well, however crouse control system does not function.
Dash board light can be on and off no problem, no activation no clicking sound.
All other switches are ok.
Please let me know any thing can help.
Thanks

Start checking the cruise control vacume lines.

Look at the vacume manifold switch on the brake pedal

the vacuum lines are likely cracked....if you look at your throttle body (bronze colored disk thing in the engine bay), you will see a 1/4 inch black hose...this hose leads to a t-piece, with a hose going towards the front of the truck, and one going through the firewall to the cab. these lines are likely cracked or have visible holes in them. go to an auto parts store, bring in a sample of the hose, buy like 12 feet of it,
-1-go home, cut it to the same length as the ones you took off to make it easier, or just cut as you go like i did, and
-2-slide the hose onto the throttle body, brake pedal, and vaccum pump (under the jack in the front, hard to see, but you can put your hand down there, and follow the old vacuum hose to find the little nipple to slide the new hose onto...
-3-then hook them all up to the t-piece.
the hardest parts are getting the new hose down through the jack area to the vacuum pump, and sliding it through the firewall without pissing off the rubber grommet/seal there. this is a very easy fix, you can likely do it in about 15 minutes and it hardly gets your hands dirty too! plus, it will cost about 2 dollars! fixed my 97 right up!
