Default Crower 53229 Camshaft questions

I have a rover p38 engine at a local performance rebuild shop getting built. I have the crower 53229 cam and lifters for the build. He is telling me I need new springs as stock spec is 70lbs and mine are measuring 68lbs. I’ve been scouring the web and this site and getting mixed answers. The crower site shows similar rpm range to stock.
I’d love to hear from someone with experience with this, thanks

I had that cam in a 4.6 from a P38 in my 1989 RR. I don't remember having to buy new springs but maybe your guy knows better than mine did. I'll say one thing though thatcam woke that motor up and sounded awesome.

good luck

If they are weak for stock spec than I would replace them. If your going through everything else on it seems logical to knock it out

I personally don’t like the crowler lifters. I’ve had much better success with the crowler cam & OEM lifters vs using their lifters.

Spring measuring tool may be off a few %s. 2lbs will not make a difference for the revs you will do with this engine so valve float unlikely. Sometimes the extra cam lift requires lowering of the valve guide seal seat, or thinner spring washers. Extra duration won't change that. Agree with above, doing a deep rebuild, replace the springs. Stock will be fine. I suspect that most of torque and power will be low to mid rpms, not at 6000 rpms.
