Default Crower Cam

Has anybody used this cam in an otherwise stock 1999 4.0L D2? Is it worth the cost? I already have the engine out and will be freshening it up. New bearings, rings, seals etc...

some dyno numbers would be even better, lol

i put that exact same camshaft in my 4.6 2004 D2 at 162,000 miles. camshaft bearings 3 and 4 had walked causing oil pressure issues. to me, it did feel like it had better power and speed than the old cam even before the issues with the cam bearings. i am now at 234,000 miles and it still pulls strong and gets to speed quickly even with 32" tiles, a steel front bumper and winch, and a rear steel bumper. i also pull a small trailer occasionally for work with it. when not pulling the trailer, i get 11.5 mpg around town and 13.5 or a little better on the highway. on a stock D2 i imagine you'd see better mpg.

I have the Kent-Crower cam in my Turner 4.6 engine whoich was installed about 7 years ago. It does feel like it has a little more prep.

I decided on this cam based on Turner's input on reliability. This is what their website says: "the new camshaft is produced on an improved 'Chilled Iron' cam blank which gives significantly superior reliability over the original production cams.

I have it in my 3.9 and it really pepped it up. Definitely got more get up and go than it did. Also has some supporting mods with ignition and intake.

It’s been 10 years ago but it put one in a 4.6 that went into a RRC I had at the time. I think it was the 229 model, it woke it up for sure. I recall more bottom end pull, sounded great too. If you have the motor out I say do it.
