Default Cruise Control 01 Disco II

So all of the sudden the cruise control doesn't engage. It is NOT fused separately so no easy fix. I've checked all lines both vacuum and power. All connections are good. No CODES, vacuum leaks or obvious shorts. Master on/off switch on dash is lit.

I checked in RAVE and looked at all ECU etc. locations and found all to be intact and I'm guessing functional.

Only recent major change in the truck was conversion from rear air suspension to spring. Road height sensors and compressor removed in addition to air bags. However, the cruise failure came several weeks after that change and the 2 systems on not related or connected.

Stumped!

I seem to remember reading somewhere that a problem with the brake light switch can cause the cruise control not to engage?
Try lifting your pedal up with your toe and see if it will engage.

Does your horn still work? If that fuse is blown the cruise will not function.

You haven't by chance changed your brake light blubs to LED recently?

Had that happen on my 03, previous owner mentioned he'd changed them over to LED...and cruise didn't work...changed them back to regular bulbs...works fine now. Different resistance in the LED bulbs...so, cruise control module doesn't recognize them...it believes there is an issue with the wire circuit and refuses to set cruise in fear that the "tap the brake to deactivate the cruise" will not work. I believe you can find the proper LED bulbs with correct resistance if you search enough.
