Hey guys I am a high school student and am currently enrolled in a Ag Mechanics class at my school. Its based on welding and for a project I want to build a front bumper that would fit a 2002 Land rover Disco 2. I am interested into going into some type of mechanics field or welding and I need to start somewhere. I was wondering if anybody had some plans already drawn up or pictures of there custom bumpers that I could follow. Anything would be great and I appreciate the help!

 

I have no plans/drawings for you. but I have found that a sturdy form board that can be cut with a knife is a must. also a bendable form board (3/16 luan) and duct tape.
frame mounts first and then block up your boards and cut as desired.
and complex doesn't always equal good looks. start with a simple design and tweak it

I would probably go for the terrafirma bumper look. It's simple and you won't have to mess with pipe bending. I would just add holes in it for lights.

 

Yep. Mock it up in cardboard. Can't go wrong.

Some of this is nonsense, but you can see the how you could do just about anything. Frame mounts are definitely the start point.
