Default Cutting out on acceleration

Hi Everybody,

I have a '99 Disco 2 with 170,000 miles on it.
When I accelerate sometimes I notice it will briefly cut-out somtimes. The RPMs drop and than it picks up again. It seems to happen more often when I am accelerating faster.

Any thoughts on what would cause this?

Just guessing but could be something like dirt or something in the line, clogged injector, plugs old, I would say check the fuel filter but far as I know the disco 2s don't have a filter they just have the sock in the tank (at least on the 2001 I have). Someone with more experience will probably jump it and point you to the right way.

Sounds like fueling issue. How long has this been going on/ multiple tanks of fuel?
Do you have any electrical issues?
Do you have check engine light on? Codes?

Thanks for the replies.

It's been going on for about 6 months. No check engine light. The car runs great overall and this seems to happen when i really put my foot into it.

Maybe the truck is hesitating to give you time to hold on to something before take off.

Ha ha Martin. I have a big wheel that accelerates faster than this truck.

It doesn't happen right at take off it happens once its in third or fourth gear.

Well do you run any kind of fuel cleaner or injector cleaner every other fill up? I try to run something from lucas or seafoam at least once a month, don't know of it helps or not.

I've had the same thing going on for some time now. Seafoam didn't seem to help. I should've tried rebuilding or replacing the injectors while I had the engine torn down for HG, but I didn't. Someone else I talked to about it recommended it might be the MAF, but I don't have any codes so I find that unlikely.

Doesn't do it at idle. Only when i put my foot on it during acceleration. I took the MAF sensor off awhile back and cleaned it with seafoam.
