Default D1 Steering Box Replaced- new unit leaks too

My new to me 1998 D1 had a very bad leak from the Steering Box. I sucked it up and ordered a remanufactured steering box and my local mechanic replaced it. After the new remanufactured box was installed- it started leaking (immediatley) at the seal on the end of the unit nearest to the front of the truck. The part was under a 1 yr warranty and they are sending me another steering box before I send them the bad one back- so no big loss here-- I am just assuming I got a bad steering box-- is there any reason to think there may be something else to blame.
Thanks
