Default D2 bypass shocks?

Hello all,
This is more of a curiosity than anything (for now) but I’ve seen people installing bypass shocks on their D2s. My question is if anyone has had any experience with running bypass shocks on their D2 and most importantly is it worth it? Also which brand did you use?

Mainly I’m looking for a smoother ride on desert roads that are pretty well travelled by RZRs, buggies, prerunners ect. Not trying to achieve prerunner speed, but some of the imbedded rocks and minor whoops are brutal. Currently I have a terrafirma 2” HD spring lift with steel bumpers front and back with a rack. The weight helped a bit, but I feel like the shock compression is valved too stiff.

bilstein 7100s probably best value with the external reservoir. I don't remember the valving that works well with most rovers but it shouldn't be too hard to search for. Also tire pressure is probably a big component in those scenarios, airing down will help immensely. That said not hard to overheat OME or TF shocks on long washboard sections.

also load range E tires depending on manufacturer can cause a lot of issues on unladen vehicles. My green disco rides like crap on E rated K02s, I've had a few different suspensions on that vehicle and none of them made that much of a difference in change. It's stock except for roof rack lift, no armor/bumpers.
