Default D2 Condenser fan comes on when key is in on position before starting cold

Well, I seem to have many tiny issues I'm slowly trying to track down with my little actron gauge and observation... mostly just rough idle which has smoothed out a bit with my tinkering... anyway I noticed when doing my A/C compressor dryer there was no plug to the sensor... my a/c shop said they bypassed it and will not make any difference... looks like the pug cut off and one wire to ground on frame and other loose but snipped.. not a great setup I suppose.. anyway.. my fan comes on as soon as I put the key in my disco 2 regardless and runs non stop... is that plug going to dryer an on off switch to control fan? can i find another ? part number?

So go back and have them reconnect the system as it is supposed to be before you wear out the fan.

I wonder why they did that? What happens when you disconnect the wire from ground?

they didn't do it at A/C mechanic... when I bought it , it was like that but of course I didn't know it til after replacing compressor.. I asked the mechanic and he said it was ok so yeah I think Ill take it back to him or Ill just fix it with new wire and plug, just need plug..... it looks to be just that the connector is missing... prev owner must have done that...

Would also point out that human nature being what it is, the reason some one made it stay on all the time might be they needed more cooling. And instead of fixing the problem they covered it up. So when you fix it, good idea to check temps at idle and on highway with scanner.

For overheat, fan should come on a 212F, go off at 202F, which is just below max open temp of stat (204F). For AC operation, RAVE says:

Engine cooling fan control
While the A/C system is on, operation of the electric engine cooling fan, to assist refrigerant condenser operation, is
determined by a combination of vehicle speed and external air temperature. When cooling fan operation is required,
the ATC ECU outputs a cooling fan request to the ECM, which then energises the cooling fan relay. The cooling fan
request is output if vehicle speed is 80 km/h or less while the external air temperature is 28
°C (82 °F) or more. The
request is cancelled, and the cooling fan switched off, if either the vehicle speed increases to 100 km/h, or the external

air temperature decreases to 25
°C (77 °F).

Would belive that normal D2 operation on highway at 50 mph - 60 mph would be under 200F. What are you getting?
