Im not a 100% sure I had a local car stereo company so the work. I paid them for the radio and install. Since it is custom you would have to lower the AC unit so not sure if that is in your ability.

The cruise control unit is completely separate from any of the engine vacuum lines. It's pretty simple to remove the entire CC assembly and replace the couple of small vacuum lines on it.
Also, remember that you have to pull the Set button towards you. Pushing it does nothing.

Is it vacuum related if your cruise control works but surges?

what do you refer to when you say entire CC assembly? If it is seperate how would I check for leaks then? I am pulling it and nothing happens.

No. That's an indication that the cable from the vacuum unit to the throttle body needs adjustment.

Separate as in it's a standalone pump unit over on the right-hand fender, near the fusebox. You can take the whole thing out to check the condition of the hoses.
It's also possible that the pump and its hoses are okay, but the bellows unit that pulls on the throttle cable is leaking.

Start taking a look in the area -- it's pretty logical and simple to understand once you identify the components.

My cable line from the actuator to the throttle body is really loose, would you recommend taking the slack out?

I certainly recommend it. The RAVE specifies a gap of 4-4.5mm (page 18-2-77) but I think that is too loose. You may have to try a few adjustments until you get it right.

So the gap that the RAVE shows is what I see in my vehicle currently but what Im seeing is what seems to be a lot of slack in the line if I pull directly on the line. Im refereing to the cable for the cruise control not the throttle.

Also Side note, I have the RAVE workshop book for:
1. Land Rover Discovery Series 2 Workshop Manual 1999-2003 MY
2. Discovery Series II WORKSHOP MANUAL - 1999MY ON

Do you know what the difference between to 2 are and what "MY" stands for on each?

I have a 2003 Land Rover Discovery 2 4.6 V8
