Default D2 and driveshaft replacement plus a little extra

Howdy, I am from Dallas and own an 03 Disco SE with 80K miles. Bought it used back in late 08 for a steal and love it. When it works it's an amazing vehicle, but when something goes wrong, it really goes wrong. I recently felt a very violent shaking whenever I was accelerating. Due to some reading and my dad's help, he figured out it was the u-joints. Today we took the front drive shaft off intending to do the rebuild that is discussed in depth on this forum. As we inspected, we noticed the slots that the u-joints go into on the yoke and the carden joint are broken. So after calling around we discovered that these parts are not sold separately. I have decided to go with the Tom Woods conventional double carden drive shaft.

My Landy:

The problem shaft:

As you all can see, I am very lucky to have caught this when I did. This was right on the verge of causing a tremendous amount of damage. At first I thought it was steering wobble.

*Update: ordered the TW conventional double carden driveshaft on Thursday. Called them up and had several questions before I ordered, they were great to deal with and very patient. Should have it in hand on Wednesday. Just have to make sure the u-joints are topped off with grease and install. While doing that I will also be doing the coolant top-off trick to try and get rid of the whooshing sound. My dad recently replaced a hose that was leaking so I am sure that is it. Will update if that fixes the problem. So after all this is taken care of my next project is going to be the drivers side rear door.

Symptoms: Using either key fob or internal door unlock/lock switch, the rear door will not unlock. I have to manually use the door handle to get the door to unlock. Once unlocked, I can lock with the fob or switch. I can hear the 'click' coming from in the door when I press the unlock button, but nothing happens of course. All other doors work fine.

So based on all that would you all say that the actuator needs replacing? What else should I check? Thanks!

That sure sounds like the actuator on the rear door. I had one with similar symptoms, although it was the front. Replaced the actuator and it's been great since.

Hmm my 98 D1 suffered the same prop-shaft failure! Wonder if these stock shafts should be recalled?
