D2 front hookes u-joint grease fitting upgrade
I just wanted to add my 2 cents. I recently bought a decent '99 Disco 2 with 77,000 miles. I had a '98 Disco 1 for 6 years and loved it despite the many problems I had. I traded it for an H3 (yuk), now I'm back to driving a Disco. Anyway, it developed a telltale cricket chirp the other dayand upon further inspectionI found large chunks broken off of the bearing housings/ cups in the hookes joint. Is this normal? (sarcasm) I have a new driveshaft on order.I recommend everyone taking a look at their front driveshaft periodically.
If your truck doesn't have grease fittings on the u-joints in the double cardon, don't just inspect them once in awhile, replace the u-joints today, they can cause you to loose your tranny if they fail at highway speeds and at $7000 plus, you don't want that to happen.

I went to the dealer a while ago, and I had them "service the front and rear u-joints".... they replaced the rear ones, but couldn't do the front ones???
I don't know what to do...
