D2 No Heat?

D2 No Heat?
In an earlier post. I just replaced my Tensioner Pulley, AC Compressor and Master Brake Cylinder. The air is just now cooling down in the South East. Turned my heat on and no heat. "Heater Control Valve" My D2 has 97K on it. Born on date is " Dec 2000".
Should I replace the Heater Control Valve first. Not loosing coolant, in the hotter month I may top off coolant every 6 months (2 cups). Last year the heater took awhile to work on the coldest days. 12 deg F.
I researched this but not found the most common failure with heat with an under 100K disco 2.

Bet your heater core is clogged, feel the hoses going into the firewall (two hoses on passenger side just above the valve cover). They should both be hot, if one is hot & one is much cooler = clogged heater core. CAREFULLY cut off the old heater hose (if you’re aggressive you can damage the heater core pipes/O-Ring seals) then back flush it with a garden hose (always flush it backwards first to get the clog out), let the water flow thru it, and then flush it the other way. Once done get some 5/8 heater hose & cut it to fit (hose direction DOES NOT matter as it’s a loop system), install some new hose clamps and enjoy a working heater and honestly you’ll probably run a few F cooler as well due to coolant now flowing thru the core.
