Default Volkswagon G12 coolant into the D2 now

pulled the lower hose to drain what ever distilled water would come out, and then was able to get the entire gallon of concentrate G12 in to the system. so with my Jetta i remember filling up the reservoir and then just blowing into the reservoir and it bleeds the system very well. no raising the reservoir up and above everything. i still have another 3rd a gallon of G12 that ill top off the system with.

i doubt ill see temp drops, but who knows.

also noticed that my heater core hoses are not doing so well. any good tips for taking the old hose off with out destroying the heater core fittings? i went to Napa today and got some 5/8 hose, but not sure if it is the right size. would like to get the correct size as temporary fix till the correct is ordered.

We would like a photo of that.

I understand you can use and have read of others using heater hose as a permanent replacement. I've seen size, don't remember and haven't done myself so no advice on procedure of removal to prevent damage.

Use a sharp razor knife and cut the old ones off. You really don't want to tug on the heater core side as you could possibly damage the heater core pipes, O-Ring connections, or the heater core itself.

I replaced them on my 97 Range Rover with some hose I matched up at an Auto Parts store.

Im sure I saw rubber just a while ago and connects both back to metal tubes. The rubber is tough to undo.

got it all back together, new heater core hoses installed, just been topping off the reservoir as needed with the G12. temps been floating around 188 - 190 on the high way and 195 to 199 sitting at idle. it creeps up to 202ish and then settles at the 199 rang. will let ya all know how the G12 coolant does.
