D2 not cranking
I'm needing some help, my 02 d2 isn't turning over. I have a brand new battery on the vehicle and in remote, have checked all fuses and checked relays. The starter is free and works good and getting signal to starter. Have tried locking and unlocking many times. Still no luck, I tried to up it off just to make sure I had enough voltage. I can't think of anything else other than replacing the crankshaft position sensor and the xyz position switch.
I see this is your first post in this forum. Welcome. You've found the best Rover forum online.
First let's clarify just what you mean when you say "not cranking" and "isn't turning over." Believe it or not those terms are sometimes used in ways different than how people mechanically inclined use them.
Based on the rest of what you wrote it appears you mean what I would expect, that the starter motor does not run when the ignition switch is turned, and does not "crank" or "turn over" the engine.
If that's correct it's not clear what you mean when you say "The starter is free and works good ..."
Some people use those terms to mean the car won't start even though the starter runs and you can hear the engine turning over. That's something different.
A failed crankshaft position sensor does not prevent the starter motor from operating. It shuts off spark and fuel.
A failed XYZ can prevent the starter from operating if the computer can't "see" that the transmission is in Park or Neutral. Have you tried starting the truck with the shifter in Neutral? When you move the shifter through PRND321 does the LCD on the instrument panel show the correct gear and do the red lights on the shifter surround light up as they should?
Please clarify just what you mean so we can help you.

If your starter is turning but your engine isn't running, STOP... and spray some starter fluid into your air filter box and MAF and retry.
If the engine briefly runs on the starter fluid, that would suggest an issue with your fuel pump.
Otherwise, you are looking at a "spark" issue or anti-theft problem.
Spraying a bit from a can is easy...and that will narrow down your problem area.

Not cranking generally means the motor is not turning over on the starter motor. If you have 12 volt power to the LV 12 volt exciter wire (the thin wire) then check whether you have you have 12 volts to the positive input side of the starter motor feed (the red heavy cable) whilst someone operates the keyswitch and if you have the solenoid in the starter motor is defective or corroded, or the Bendix is defective or seized.
