D2 Stalls/Turns off on cold and wet starts
2003 Land Rover Discovery 2 HSE7 has this weird issue where when the engine is cold it starts and then immediately dies/ turns off. It will do this a few times until it finally stays running. This truck sat for about 3 years before I bought it and brought it back to life but this issue persists. Once I get it going it wont have this issue again until the engine is cold again. The engine starts right up first crank as well, but its almost like I'm turning the key back off. Does this sound like an ECU, fuse box, or some other electrical issue? The engine was just out for rebuild and someone mentioned it possibly being a bad ground but I don't think the grounds would cause a sporadic issue when the engine is cold. Any thoughts? I can record a video of it and post it if that helps.
I would start with fuel, that sounds like your fuel rail for the injectors is not getting pressurized. Generally a fuel pump issue, the pressure can be checked but you need to check dead cold ideally after sitting overnight.
I guess I did kind of ignore fuel issues. I'll see if I can pick up a fuel pressure tester. I feel like if fuel pressure was the issue the truck would experience long cranks, is that correct? My truck starts right up but will turn off/stall.
